People living with chronic pain are often described as "difficult" patients. In reality, they are patients with complex conditions that require time, empathy, multidisciplinary care, and genuine partnership with healthcare professionals.
The most effective patient–doctor relationship is built on dialogue, mutual respect, recognition of the patient's lived experience, and a willingness to acknowledge uncertainty when clear answers are not yet available.
